[Masticatory rhythms in persons wearing a postsurgical complete denture (using 4-META resin and improved press-plate) as observed on EMG and MKG].

چکیده
A postsurgical upper complete denture was constructed with metal press-plate specially improved for applying the acrylic resin containing 4-META in the hemimaxillary edentulous patient. The whole process of denture construction is described and the resultant denture effect is evaluated by our test method in this paper. The main findings are: 1. The internal surface is quite smooth and clean 2. Due to the thinness (0. 4 mm) the denture is not heavy and is almost the same as an acrylic resin denture 3. Bonding of the acrylic resin to the metal press-plate is strong In order to evaluate the acceptability of this prosthesis, masticatory rhythms were analyzed by means of EMG and MKG. The results showed that the rhythms were similar to the group wearing a normal complete denture and it is considered that this prosthesis functioned well during mastication.

Effects of a denture adhesive on masticatory functions for complete denture wearers--consideration for the condition of denture-bearing tissues--.
The purpose of this study was to examine effects of a denture adhesive on masticatory functions for complete denture wearers considering the condition of denture-bearing tissues. Sixteen edentulous subjects wearing well-fitting complete dentures volunteered to participate in this study. According to the condition of denture-bearing tissues, subjects were divided into two groups; "good group" an...
متن کاملImproved Prefrontal Activity and Chewing Performance as Function of Wearing Denture in Partially Edentulous Elderly Individuals: Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Study
The purpose of this study was to elucidate the effects of wearing a denture on prefrontal activity during chewing performance. We specifically examined that activity in 12 elderly edentulous subjects [63.1±6.1 years old (mean ± SD)] and 12 young healthy controls (22.1±2.3 years old) using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in order to evaluate the quality of prefrontal functionality ...
متن کاملA clinical study to evaluate and compare the masticatory performance in complete denture wearers with and without soft liners.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES Soft liners are mainly used with complete dentures in case of poor mucosal conditions and for the even distribution of masticatory forces. However, there is some doubt as to whether the elasticity of the soft liner disturbs masticatory function because denture wearers may need extra force to compress the soft liners, leading to muscle fatigue. So, this clinical study was don...
متن کامل[Clinical study of evaluation on masticatory function in complete denture wearers. A comparison of masticatory movements between normal natural dentition and complete denture wearers].
The purpose of this study was to comparatively study and elucidate the characteristics of masticatory function of the subjects with complete denture and those with normal natural dentition. The study were carried out on 20 subjects with normal natural dentition and 30 subjects with complete denture having clinically good prognosis. Masticatory movements were analyzed by electromyograph (EMG) an...

PURPOSE To assess function by identifying changes in swallowing and masticatory performance in maxillary obturator prosthesis wearers. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty subjects were recruited for the study, of which 20 were obturator wearers, 20 were completely dentulous and 20 had removable partial/complete dentures with similar Eichner's Index. Swallowing ability was evaluated with and without o...
